GoPro enhances the capabilities of its HERO action camera with a new 4K 4:3 aspect ratio setting and an in-app SuperView Digital Lens feature. These improvements allow for a wider, more immersive field of view, which will make the device particularly appealing for first-person perspectives and social media content. Existing users can access these upgrades through a free software update.

Weighing only 86 grams, the HERO action camera is GoPro’s smallest and lightest camera to date. The addition of the SuperView setting, previously available only in higher-end models, further extends the compact device’s appeal by transforming 4:3 footage into an ultra-wide 16:9 format for a more dramatic visual effect.

For consumers, the HERO presents a budget-friendly entry point into action cameras while retaining GoPro’s reputation for durability and video quality.
