Woolworths has significantly broadened its Quiet Hour initiative. Now, the brand offers a low-sensory shopping experience five days a week in most of its Australian stores.

The Quiet Hour initiative was designed to reduce auditory and visual stimuli in order to create a calmer environment tailored to the needs of individuals with sensory sensitivities, such as those with autism, ADHD, or other sensory-processing conditions. During Quiet Hour, stores implement several adjustments, including dimming lights, lowering register and phone volumes, silencing bakery and kitchen equipment buzzers, pausing music, and halting non-emergency PA announcements. These changes aim to make shopping less overwhelming and more accessible for customers who may find traditional retail environments stressful.

The expansion of Quiet Hour reflects Woolworths’ commitment to inclusivity and customer autonomy. By extending this initiative to weekdays, Woolworths is responding to positive customer feedback and addressing a growing demand for accessible shopping options.
